Venue information

Reincarnated from its South Wharf location, which closed in April 2007 after five-years of trading, Alumbra brings a vibrant and global essence to the Docklands and Central Pier.

The venue is situated at the end of Central Pier’s historic runway and housed in a 1914 heritage-listed cargo shed. Visitors love the look, which is that of an authentic warehouse conversion with an opulent penthouse feel.

A destination venue to be discovered and explored, Alumbra is surrounded on three sides by water and offers 360-degree views of the Docklands precinct, Bolte Bridge and city skyline.

Modular in design with a host of intimate spaces to uncover, Alumbra can accommodate up to 700 people across the Main Bar, Event Space and lounge-style mezzanine Veuve Lounge, which offers table service and bottle storage in a fully sound proof room that affords an intimate escape.

Other key features include an impressive glass dance floor that provides views down into the illuminated waters of Victoria Harbour. Alumbra’s signature Buddha’s add to the mystique of the venue and its trademark lattice screens are featured in and around the Main Bar and Event Space.

The sleek illuminated bar, specially commissioned glass chandeliers and vibrant candy-striped carpets in luscious pink and purple tones are juxtaposed against the weathered, rustic features of Shed 9 - giving Alumbra an boutique, underground feel.

The whole venue is also available (on application).
