Each week Saturday night at Alumbra sees Melbourne’s premier house night take place with a focus on style and quality. Doors are open from early for the chilled part of the evening with background tunes and our gourmet BBQ out on the decking area.
Inside, the atmosphere is warm and inviting with plenty of seating and couches for guests to enjoy a cocktail. From 9pm, a $15 cover charge is in place.
Our resident DJs provide the musical entertainment of the night and we have some of the city’s favourite house DJs on the decks. Simon Digby, James Belias, Ganz and Nik M play funky soulful and vocal house, with afro, latin and disco elements. Two of the main Saturday night draw-cards are DJ Jorj and Franky D, respected DJ/producers from our fine city.
DJ Jorj has recently mixed one disc from Alumbra’s first ever CD, which was released by Defected Records in April 2008. DJ Jorj is also an experienced producer, with a global reputation. He has released tracks on house labels such as Defected, Distant Music and Curious Records. Additionally, Jorj has been remixed by artists such as Blaze and Knee Deep and his tracks included on mix CD releases by Louie Vega, Bobby and Steve and on Defected In The House.
Franky D is a local DJ that has an enviable 20 year DJing history. He has been involved in some of the most legendary club nights Melbourne has seen. As a producer, Franky D releases music under the Soul Deep Collective moniker, and his debut releases has been commended by respected international producers.
Upstairs, Alumbra’s exclusive Privé Lounge shows an intimate side of Alumbra. New furniture and recent renovations have given the room an alternative ambience. Sound-proofing now means Prive has its own DJ. Catch Apap dropping an eclectic array of artists (from Frank Sinatra to St Germain) and styles (from funk/soul to jazz and disc).
